COAS General Raheel Sharif witnesses Pak-Turkey joint exercise

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited National Counter Terrorism Training Centre (NCTC), Pabbi, on Monday.

He witnessed Pak-Turkey joint exercise ‘ATATURK-IX’, which is a series of yearly joint exercise between two armies.

Two weeks long exercise “ATATURK-IX’’ was conducted at high altitude deep snow environment at Rattu near Astore and later in urban environment at Pabbi near Jhelum.

Troops from Turkish Special Forces and Turkish Mountain Commando participated in the exercise along with Pakistan Army troops.

Earlier, the COAS chaired a high-level security meeting at GHQ to review progress of operation in Punjab to nab terrorists in the aftermath of Lahore blast.

Intelligence agencies with Army and Rangers carried out five operations in Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan since last night. The operations continued with more leads coming in.

A number of suspect terrorists and facilitators have been arrested and a huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered.
