COAS, German foreign minister discuss bilateral ties, peace in region
BERLIN, Germany (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif met the German foreign minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.
They discussed bilateralism, regional security and peace in region.
The German foreign minister acknowledged Pakistan’s contribution in the war against terrorism and regional peace.
He said that Germany understands Pakistan’s challenges and assured full support for Pak efforts for stability and peace in region.
The COAS held an interactive session in Koerber Foundation, a renowned think-tank in Berlin. He gave an objective and candid discourse on Pakistan’s environment and security issues.
He explained in detail the challenges faced by Pakistan and contribution towards peace and stability in the region. “Pakistan is successfully closing up to the conclusion of Operation Zarb-e-Azb. Our forces have cleared entire FATA up to borders and also busted their linkages and networks,” he added.
COAS General Raheel Sharif said that moving beyond this critical stage would require greater understanding and support of international community.
“We have sacrificed immensely, more than any other nation. World needs to stand by us till dividends are fully realized. Terrorism has morphed into a global phenomenon and warrants a global response. In order to effectively win, synergy by all required,” the COAS maintained.
