COAS lauds HIT for manufacturing international standard defence & safety equipment
RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) on Thursday.
He was briefed on the products manufactured for defence and commercial purposes besides details of various facilities.
The briefing covered Tank Al-Khalid-1, manufacturing and rebuild of Armor Personal Carrier (APC), Security Vehicles Dragon, Protector and Mohafiz.
The COAS also witnessed the production and demonstration of Tank Al-Khalid-1.
Speaking on the occasion, General Raheel Sharif greatly appreciated the efforts of HIT in manufacturing international standard defence and safety equipment and support to field formations, including Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
The COAS encouraged efforts of indigenization and commercialization of HIT products. He also appreciated the use of Indigenous Security Vehicle “Mohafiz” and “Protector”. He emphasized the need to maintain highest standards of quality while ensuring saving of national exchequer through self-reliance.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Defence Production secretary was also present.
Earlier on arrival at HIT, the COAS was received by Chairman Heavy Industries Taxila Lt-Gen Syed Wajid Hussain.
