Contempt of Court Case: ECP again issues show cause notice to Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has on Wednesday again issued show cause notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in contempt of court case.

A five-member tribunal of the ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) resumed hearing of the contempt of court proceedings against PTI chairman Imran Khan.

During the proceedings, Babar Awan, the counsel of Imran Khan said that the they received the written copies of ECP’s order on August 21 and they wanted to use the right to appeal but there are holidays in courts.

He said that the courts will reopen on September 13 to which the ECP again issued show cause notice to the PTI chairman.

The ECP adjourned the hearing until September 14.

Talking to media after the hearing, Babar Awan said that the government is trying to amend the Article 62 and 63 of the constitution, adding that they will resist any attempt to make amendment in the constitution.
