Cop killed another injured in hunt for culprits of attack on Izharul Hassan
KARACHI (92 News) – A suspect involved in an attack on Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-Pakistan) leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan has killed one police officer and wounded another during a raid at his house and he was able to escape from Karachi’s Gulzar-i-Hijri area on Monday.
On a tip off the presence of terrorists, Karachi Police carried out a raid at a house in Gulzar-e-Hijri area. During the raid, the terrorists opened firing on police party, killing a police personnel on the spot and injuring another.
SSP Rao Anwar Ahmed claimed that the suspect was wounded in the raid, adding that Abdul Karim Siddiqi was the mastermind of an attack on a lawmaker. The lawmaker escaped unhurt but a policeman and a child were killed. Police later chased and fatally shot one of the attackers.
Rao Anwar said that Siddiqi belongs to a militant group and planned to assassinate Khawaja Izharul Hassan to ignite violence in the city.
Sources privy to police said that the accused Abdul Karim Siddiqi was a student of University of Karachi’s Applied Physics department.
