Court seige: SHC rejects Sindh IGP’s apology
KARACHI (92 News) – The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday rejected Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghullam Haider Jamali’s apology regarding the siege of the high court.
As per reports, the IGP had offered his apology as the police had failed to protect the SHC when masked policemen assaulted Zulfiqar Mirza’s guards and journalists outside its premises on Saturday. Justice Sajjad Ali of the SHC, while rejecting his apology, remarked that the IGP was responsible for the incident and along with other police officials should be indicted.
Earlier on Saturday, masked gunmen besieged the SHC building and rounded up over supporters of PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza while journalists covering the incident were also subjected to manhandling.
