Day of meeting: PML-N leaders meet with Nawaz, Maryam at Adiala jail

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leaders reached at Adiala Jail on Thursday to meet former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam.

As per details, today is meet up day at Adiala jail with convicted members of Sharif family in Avenfield case. The PML-N leaders, family members and legal team will meet Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt (r) Safdar inside Adiala prison.

The security has been tightened with heavy contingent of police deployed around the premises. The convicted members were shifted in the meeting room at jail. It was reported that only those persons will be allowed for meeting as per the choice of the prisoners.

Former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal, ex-foreign minister Khawaja Asif, former special assistant on foreign affairs to the PM Tariq Fatemi and former information minister Marriyum Aurengzeb were among the visitors scheduled to meet their imprisoned leaders on the prisoners meeting day.

Former Sindh governor Mohammad Zubair, ex-defence minister Khurram Dastgir, and other leaders including Saira Afzal Tarar, Chaudhary Tanvir, Javed Hashmi and Pervaiz Rasheed also reached Adiala Jail to meet the PML-N quaid.

Two days earlier, Nawaz Sharif was moved back to Adiala jail from Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) after falling sick inside prison on Sunday, reportedly, due to non-compliance with doctor’s advice.


He was brought to cardiology ward of the hospital amid tight security and the ward was declared a sub-jail. Nawaz stayed at the hospital until his medical reports showed his recovery to health.

Nawaz and his daughter Maryam were jailed on July 13 after an accountability court sentenced them to 10 and seven years, respectively, over Avenfield properties in Britain which emerged in the wake of Panama Papers revelations.

The ousted prime minister was also slapped with a £8 million fine whereas Maryam was fined £2 million in the corruption reference.
