Dense fog engulfs different cities of Punjab, causes traffic mishaps

LAHORE (92 News) – A number of cities in Punjab were engulfed by dense fog, thus limiting visibility limits and affecting traffic flow on Thursday.

|As per details garnered, dense fog has blanketed several cities including Lahore, Pattoki, Okara, Sahiwal, Mian Channu and Multan. The fog is also badly disrupting the road traffic.

Dense fog grips Lahore including other cities of Punjab

The Motorway sections from Lahore to Kot Momin (M2), Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad (M3), Faisalabad to Gojra and Khanewal to Multan (M4) were shut down due to poor visibility.

The Motorway police have appealed the drivers to use GT Road for travel. The Motorway police have also urged the drivers to drive slowly and switch on fog lights. They also requested people to stay home and avoid unnecessary travelling.

Fog causes traffic mishaps –

At least six people including policeman lost their lives and 31 injured in fog-related incidents in cities including Muridke, Toba Tek Singh, and Khairpur. A police officer was also among the dead.

Motorway police can be contacted at helpline 130 for any travel guidance, the police statement added.

It is pertinent to mention here that the plains of Punjab engulfed by a thick layer of fog affecting daily life and vehicular traffic in winter. The poor visibility makes travel on motorways dangerous and also affects the air traffic.
