DAMASCUS, Syria (92 News) – Saboteurs desecrated the shrine of the 8th Umayyad caliph Umar bin Abdulaziz in the northwestern Idlib province of Syria, causing severe resentment on the social media.

According to the media reports, Muslims across the world strongly condemned the act after the videos and picture of the desecration of the shrine went viral on the social media.

The footage on the social media showed terrorists desecrating the shrine in the town of Deir Sharqi near Maarat al-Numan city.

Hazrat Umar bin Abdulaziz was recognized for his adherence to justice during his rule of two years and five months.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Ulema Council has summoned a meeting to condemn the desecration of the shrine.

Renowned religious scholar Mufti Raghib Naeemi said that objective of the activities of saboteurs is to create anarchy among the Muslim Ummah.

Ulema Council Chairman Allama Tahir Ashrafi said that the desecration of the shrine of holy personalities is a condemnable and unacceptable act.

Ulema have demanded the Syrian government take notice of the desecration of the shrine of Hazrat Umar bin Abdulaziz.
