RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor on Tuesday lauded the role of West Indies all-rounder and Peshawar Zalmi captain Daren Sammy’s role to bring back international cricket in Pakistan.
Darren Sammy met with ISPR DG Major Gen Asif Ghafoor. During the meeting, the DG ISPR lauded the cricket star’s role for promotion of cricket in Pakistan.
“You have a lot of love for Pakistan and Pakistan’s people too love you very much especially for promoting cricket in Pakistan,” the ISPR director general said while admiring to Sammy.
The Pakistan Army spokesperson said international cricket was not taking place in Pakistan in the past but the country now would see international teams playing here because of the confidence instilled by the cricketer’s visits to the country.
Maj gen Asif Ghafoor further told Sammy that in his next visit to Pakistan, he will be taken for matches at the Younis Khan stadium, North Waziristan.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sammy is in the country ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) tournament scheduled to be played this month. The Caribbean cricketer also visited the Army Public School in his recent visit.
