Earthquake rocks different cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
PESHAWAR (92 News) – A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.3 magnitude on Richter scale struck different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.
The earthquake jolted different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar, Chitral, Upper Dir and Malakand.
The epicenter of the quake was Hindukush region in Afghanistan and its depth was 213 kilometers.
People came out of their homes in panic and started reciting verses of the Holy Quran.
As per the latest information, no loss of life or casualties have been reported as of yet.
Pakistan is a country which is susceptible to earthquakes as it straddles part of the boundary where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates meet.
On October 8, 2005, Pakistan witnessed a 7.6-magnitude quake that killed over 73,000 people and left about 3.5 million homeless, mainly in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.
