ECP rejects petition seeking disqualification of Imran Khan
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has on Monday rejected a petition seeking the disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.
A five-member tribunal of the ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner resumed hearing of the case.
During the proceedings, counsel for Imran Khan appeared before the tribunal.
The ECP rejected a petition seeking disqualification of Imran Khan on the grounds that the petitioner was unable to pursue the case.
The petition was filed by Hashim Bhatta to disqualify the PTI chairman over submitting an affidavit of not receiving funds from prohibited sources and accusing him of hiding facts from the ECP.
However, Bhatta and his lawyer failed to appear before the ECP.
