11 killed after jeep falls into river Indus in Kohistan
KOHISTAN (92 News) – As many 11 people drowned and four others suffered injuries after a jeep fell into river Indus near Kameela area of Upper Kohistan on Thursday night, police and rescuers said.
The jeep occupants, including four children, were going to Dasu from Sav at the time of the incident. The ill-fated jeep plunged into the river while taking a sharp turn.
The rescues were busy in retrieving bodies from the river, police said.
In another incident, five members of a family have been feared drowned after a motorcycle fell into Masu Vah canal in Ghotki on Thursday evening.
The locals protested against non-availability of rescuers and stoppage of canal water. The rescue operation was in progress by locals.
The people protesting the incident reportedly stopped the vehicle of PPP leader Khursheed Shah who was traveling in the caravan of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Residents of Mirpur Mathelo staged a protest against local administration for not providing any assistance in retrieving bodies.
The protesters were of the view that the local administration instead of sending rescue teams to retrieve dead bodies of five persons from canal was busy in protocol duty during Bilawal Bhutto’s visit of the area.
However, after successful negotiations with the local administration the protester opened the road to pass Bilawal Bhutto’s convoy.
