Farmers end protest after talks with government team
LAHORE (92 News) – Farmers ended their protest after talks with the government team at Thokar Niaz Baig Chowk on Wednesday.
Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat, who led the government team, said that their doors were open all time. "We will accept the justified demands of the farmers," he added.
Earlier, the police used water cannons and teargas to disperse them. Several farmers were arrested. They tried to reach The Mall Road and pelted the police with stones. The protesting farmers reached Mansoorah.
Addressing the protesters, Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Sirajul Haq condemned the torture of farmers.
"The government first exported wheat and later imported at high rates," he said.
The JI ameer demanded immediate arrest of the farmers.
