ISLAMABAD (92 News) – With an aim to reduce the financial deficit, the Finance Ministry has imposed regulatory duty on 731 imported items. The duty on cotton yarn products will be 10 percent, while five per cent duty will be imposed pm children’s garments and other items. According to SRO 1035, 15-20 per cent duty has been imposed on chocolate, dairy products, frozen meat, fruit and tomato paste. Fifty percent duty will be applicable on imported make-up, shampoo, shaving cream, hair colours, toothpaste and perfumes. Meanwhile, 15-40 percent duty will be applicable on imported foods, 15-35 percent on shoes, 15-40 duty on electric fans and their parts, 10-40 percent on electric home appliances, 40 percent on LCD, LED, 30 percent on plain tobacco and 20 percent on cigarettes and cigars. Economists believe that the increase I import duty will increase inflation across the country.
