FIR lodged against PML-N workers including Uzma Bukhari
LAHORE (92 News) – Police have lodged a first information report (FIR) of vandalism and interference in government affairs against workers of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) including party leader Uzma Bukhari According to the details garnered, the case was registered at the Islampura police station on the complaint of sub-inspector Dilshad today, a day after clashes between PML-N workers and police during party vice president Maryam Nawaz’s court appearance in Lahore. Eight people, including Uzma Bukhari, Waheed Gul, Hamza Shehbaz’s secretary, Kabeer taj, Mian Ateeq have been nominated in the FIR. Police have accused the PML-N workers of physically assaulting on-duty cops, hurling stones at them and causing damage to state property. On Friday, PML-N leaders and workers reached the accountability court in Lahore for a show of solidarity with Maryam. Police were ordered to stop the party’s workers from reaching the court premises which led to exchanges of harsh words and, eventually, clashes. Incidents of police high-handedness were widely reported, as were injuries to police personnel. An accountability court granted physical remand of leader Maryam Nawaz and his cousin Yousaf Abbas till August 21, a day after she was arrested in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. PML-N workers fight with police personnel Meanwhile, PML-N workers burnt tires outside the judicial complex while chanting slogans against the government. Earlier police had said that no party workers or leaders would be allowed to come to the court premises. However, various party leaders including Mohammad Zubair and Uzma Bukhari arrived at the court. Ahead of the Maryam’s appearance in the court, strict security arrangements were made with a large contingent of police being stationed inside and outside the court premises. A quarrel emerged between police personnel and the PML-N workers, one policeman injured during the fight and women workers also exchanged bitter words with the security officials.
