First phase of LG polls in Punjab & Sindh on October 31
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The first phase of the local government elections in Punjab and Sindh will be held on October 31.
According to a schedule issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), polling will be held in Lahore, Lodhran, Vehari, Okara, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Faisalabad, Bhakkar, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Gujrat and Chakwal in the first phase.
In the first phase in Sindh, polling will be held in Khairpur, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Qambar, Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, Larkana and Kashmore.
Candidates will file their nomination papers from September 7 to 11. Scrutiny of the papers will be held from September 12 to 17.
The candidates will be able to withdraw their papers till October 1. The final list of the candidates will be displayed on October 2.
Meanwhile, the ECP has frozen the electoral lists in the districts where polling will be held in the first phase. Under the code of conduct, a ban has been imposed on announcement of development projects and transfer/postings in the said districts.
The ECP said that stern action will be taken against the people violating the code of conduct.
