Four arrested for playing Pak national anthem at cricket match in Kashmir
SRINAGAR (92 News) – Indian police force have on Monday arrested four youths for playing the Pakistani national anthem before the start of a cricket match in Bandipora district.
A video of the match, which took place between two local teams in Arin village, went viral on social media, following which cops arrested four cricketers.
The video shows the youths wearing Pakistan cricket team jerseys lined up with their heads bowed as the Pakistan’s national anthem plays over a loudspeaker.
An FIR was also registered against both the teams under section 13 of the Unlawful Activities Act but four of them were arrested.
Reportedly the police is looking for the organizers and other players involved in the incident.
This is not the first time that Pakistan’s national anthem was played during cricket match in Kashmir.
At-least 11 Kashmiri cricketers were detained in April last year in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district after a video clip had surfaced on social media, showing them wearing the Pakistani team’s jersey with the neighboring country’s national anthem playing in the background.
