Freezing cold wave continues to grip most parts of the country
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Cold conditions prevailed across the country as the foggy weather continued to prevail in various areas of Punjab, leaving zero visibility on roads and prompting to closure of Motorway at many sections.
The winter chill can be felt in the air across Pakistan. This is quite apparent as the day and night temperatures have dropped significantly across most places of the country.
Shallow foggy conditions were witnessed in the provincial capital on Friday morning as visibility dropped to poor levels at several places. The mercury dipped below 10 degrees Celsius.
The traffic system has been disrupted as thick fog continues to blanket various areas of the province including Okara and Faisalabad.
Vehicles moved at snail’s pace due to fog while shopkeepers, roadside vendors, pedestrians were seen warming themselves with the help of bonfire at many spots.
Children braving chill were also seen going to school.
Various sections of Motorway and National Highway have also been closed due to thick fog, while commuters have been advised to avoid unnecessary travelling and use fog lights while driving.
According to spokesman of Motorway Police, Motorway M-2 from Kot Moman to Lahore and from Kot Moman to Faisalabad while Motorway M-4 from Gojra to Khanewal closed for all kind of traffic.
The zero visibility has been reported from Kharian to Kala Shah Kaku and from Sadhoke to Khori. Lahore to Bahawalpur the visibility on highway is 100 meter due to heavy fog. In Sindh, the visibility on highway is 40 to 60 meters at Tehri.
The commuters have been advised to use fog lights during fog and contact at helpline 130 for any query about fog on motorways and highways.
