Gen Nasir Janjua likely to become PM Nawaz’s National Security advisor
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Former Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Nasir Janjua is likely to assume the position of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Special Advisor on National Security.
According to highly informed sources Janjua, who recently retired from Commander Southern Command might replace Sartaj Aziz as Prime Minister’s Special Advisor on National Security, while Sartaj Aziz would continue to serve as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Special Advisor on Foreign Affairs.
According to report of international news agency, Nasir Janjua would also visit US along with the prime minister.
The news agency claimed that Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif thinks that Sartaj Aziz’s attention is divided, that is why it was decided that General Janjua will be appointed the national security advisor, enabling Sartaj Aziz to focus more on the foreign affairs front.
According to military sources, the decision was taken with the consent of the prime minister and the army chief.
