Good governance should be ensured for enduring peace, says COAS General Raheel Sharif
RAWALPINDI (92 News) – The Corps Commanders Conference concluded at General Headquarters on Tuesday, with COAS General Raheel Sharif in the chair.
An exhaustive review of internal security situation was carried out.
Appreciating progress of the ongoing operation and Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs), their achievements and effects, the COAS acknowledged full support of the nation for the operations to eliminate terrorism and extremism.
He underlined the need for matching/complimentary governance initiatives for long-term gains of operation and enduring peace across the country.
The meeting reviewed progress of the implementation of National Action Plan, finalization of FATA reforms and concluding all ongoing JITs on priority basis were highlighted as issues, which could undermine the effects of operations.
The COAS also directed to expedite return of TDPs, overcoming all obstacles for development works in affected areas and rehabilitation of all displaced families.
The forum also discussed the upcoming visit of COAS to the US where he will clearly highlight Pakistan’s perspective of new emerging regional realities.
