Government announces amendment to Articles 62 & 63
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The government has announced to amend the Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly on Tuesday, Law Minister Zahid Hamid said that the disqualification period has not been mentioned in the Article 62.
“This period should be less than five years. We will take the amendment to the committee,” he maintained.
Meanwhile, the House approved the Election Bill 2017, while the PTI rejected the bill.
The PTI also staged a walkout from the assembly against the Election Bill 2017.
According to the Election Bill 2017, the Election Commission of Pakistan will be autonomous administratively.
The election result will be declared void if the female turn out will be less than 10 percent.
Moreover, funding from banned sources will be banned.
