Government forms committee to provide relief to Rohingya Muslims
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The government on Sunday formed a committee to look into ways to provide relief to the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, who have been subjected to severe genocide in the past two years.
Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in this regard has called upon the international community to take notice of genocide of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. “The silence of the United Nations and other world bodies over the massacre of Rohingya Muslims has raised many questions,” he said in a statement.
For this purpose, a meeting of this committee will be held in Islamabad today to take stock of the situation in Myanmar. The committee consists of the Interior Minister, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi.
The Rohingya community is a minority in the mostly Buddhist Myanmar. People are forced to flee their homes in Myanmar through boats, as the local extremist Buddhists subject the minority to extreme violence.
