Gulf Crisis: PM Nawaz leaves for KSA

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has today (Monday) left for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Monday. 

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister House Spokesman, the prime minister is accompanied by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Defense Minister Khawaja Asif.

He will hold talks with the Saudi leadership on the latest situation developing amongst the GCC countries.

Sources said that Pakistan has decided to play the role of a mediator to defuse the gulf crisis.

“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif decided to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after holding consultation with the diplomatic and military circle,” sources added.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa is expected to meet the prime minister in this regard.


On the other hand, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired an important meeting of the diplomats of the gulf countries.

The meeting was attended by the Pakistan’s diplomats to Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar.

Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Secretary Foreign Affairs and other officials also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, matters pertaining to gulf crisis came under discussion.
