Honor killing claims three lives in Faisalabad
FAISALABAD (92 News) – At least three women were killed in Faisalabad in the name of honor on Wednesday.
As per details, a man entered the house and opened firing killing his wife, daughter and mother-in-law after he had doubts on their character, while the suspect managed to escape the scene.
Police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to hospital for autopsy.
Hundreds of women are murdered by their relatives in Pakistan each year on the pretext of defending family “honor”.
Pakistan amended its criminal code in 2005 to prevent men who kill female relatives escaping punishment by pardoning themselves as an “heir” of the victim.
But it was left to a judge’s discretion to decide whether to impose a prison sentence when other relatives of the victim forgive the killer — a loophole which critics say remains exploited.
