Houbara bustard hunting ban revoked
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court has on Friday revoked the complete ban on Houbara bustard (Taloor) hunting.
A five-member larger bench of the court led by Chief Justice, Anwar Zaheer Jamali, comprising justices Mian Saqib Nisar, Iqbal Hameedur Rehman, Umar Ata Bandial and Qazi Faez Isa had reserved verdict on review appeals against ban on Houbara bustard’s hunt.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa had opposed the review of August 19 verdict.
Identical review petitions had been filed by federal and provincial governments challenging the court’s ban on hunting of the endangered bird, Houbara bustard.
