I will step down when term ends, says COAS Raheel Sharif
RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Rejecting the media reports pertaining to the extension in Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif’s tenure, Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa made it clear that Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif will step down at the end of his three-year term on November 28.
According to a statement issued by the ISPR, Lt Gen Asim Bajwa said that speculations about extension in service of COAS Gen Raheel Sharif are baseless.
The COAS Gen Raheel Sharif said that Pakistan Army is a great institution. “I don’t believe in extension and will retire on the due date. Efforts to root out terrorism will continue with full vigor and resolve,” he pledged.
Gen Raheel Sharif said that Pakistan’s national interest is supreme and will be safeguarded at all costs.
