IHC fixes hearing of Nawaz Sharif's bail plea after Eidul Fitr

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday fixed hearing of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s bail plea on medical grounds after Eidul Fitr in Al-Azizia reference. According to the details garnered, the IHC will hear Nawaz Sharif’s bail plea on June 11. The court has issued notices to the federal, superintendent Kot Lakhpat jail and the National Accountability Bureau in this regard. A divison bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani will hear Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader‘s bail plea. Moreover, the court will also hear NAB’s appeal against Nawaz’s acquittal in Flagship Reference. Earlier today, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz and other leaders including Rana Sanaullah, Mushahidullah and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met Nawaz Sharif at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore. They inquired about the health of the former premier and discussed ongoing political situation in the country.In the petition, it had been stated that Nawaz Sharif is suffering from multiple diseases which could jeopardize his health. The tests conducted during his six-week bail are also showing his disease life-threatening, it states. “Nawaz Sharif is suffering from heart arteries ailment. He should be treated by the doctors who had already treated him abroad,” it added. The petition states that Nawaz’s political opponents are propagating that his treatment abroad is an attempt to get an NRO. It prayed to court to allow Nawaz Sharif to get treatment abroad.
On May 21, the IHC the application of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who is serving seven-year term in the Al-Azizia reference, for bail on medical grounds for two weeks, issuing notice to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
