Imran Khan’s close aide Zulfi Bukhari’s name placed on ECL
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Interior Minisrty on Wednesday paced put the name of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s close aide Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari aka Zulfi Bukhari on the exit control list (ECL.
Approving the request of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Interior Ministry placed the name of Zulfi on the ECL. The decision was taken in a cabinet sub-committee – formed to decide requests with regard to the placement of people’s names on ECL – chaired by the interim interior minister.
The Cabinet committee gave the green signal to putting his name on the ECL at the request of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The names have been placed on ECL over the NAB’s request. Bukhari has been barred from leaving the country as there is an ongoing NAB probe against him pertaining to offshore companies.
Responding to the decision, Zulfi Bukhari alleged the interior ministry that he was victimized in this case just only due to the support to Imran Khan. He announced to challenge the decision.
Earlier in June, the London-based businessman was interrogated by a NAB investigative team in an ongoing NAB probe against him pertaining to offshore companies. NAB probes Zulfi Bukhari for nearly two hours in offshore companies case
The interior ministry informed the court that he was placed on the blacklist in response to the NAB’s request because the sub-committee responsible for approving the inclusion of names on the ECL was dysfunctional at the time the request was forwarded.
