India has no legal or moral ground to be present at OIC meeting: FO
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson has said that India has no legal or moral ground to be present at OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting on Friday.
In a statement, the FO spokesperson has said that Pakistan believe that with a record of horrendous human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir, India has no legal or moral ground to present at OIC and Pakistan has serious concerns over invitation to Ministry for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj.
India is a country with unresolved disputes with Pakistan, a founding member of OIC. India has consistently rejected OIC resolutions on the Indian-held Jammu Kashmir dispute, adopted at the OIC Foreign Ministers and Summit levels. Only last year, India rejected the OIC resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir by stating that India dismisses it with the contempt it deserves.
The spokesman also said that Pakistan’s strong objections in this regard have been clearly communicated. “The foreign minister of Pakistan will not participate in the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.”
Earlier today, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi announced that Pakistan will not attend a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) being hosted by the United Arab Emirates on March 1-2.
This was stated by Shah Mehmood Qureshi while addressing to the joint parliament session of the Parliament under Speaker Asad Qaiser continued for a second day today on Indian aggression against Pakistan.
FM Qureshi pointed out that India is not member of the OIC, adding that the OIC has invited India without any consultation with Pakistan. “India is neither a member nor an observer of the OIC,” he mentioned.
Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s decision for not attending Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)’s meeting on Friday.
Former president and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari suggested that Pakistan should attend the meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) being hosted by the UAE.
