ISLAMABAD (92 News) – As many as 19 people were allowed to stay in Pakistan after at least 49 people who were deported by the Greece to Pakistan without any verification arrived on Thursday.

The Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) Immigration Officials stopped unverified deportees from landing a chartered plane at Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad on the directives of the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar.

In a statement issued by the Interior Ministry, Nisar said that Greece has sent deportees in violation of Pakistani laws despite an agreement with the European Union Commissioner.

As many as 49 people were onboard the aircraft but the FIA officials took 19 people in custody after verification, while 30 people were sent back.

Commenting on returning the deportees, Nisar said that the Pakistani deportees carrying unverified documents will be returned on the same flight. “Some countries are unable to understand our determination to check immoral, illegal, and inhuman procedure,” he said.

The minister further declared the illegal deportation of deportees a violation of human rights.
