Interpol rejects Pak’s request to issue Hussain Nawaz’s red warrants

LONDON (92 News) – The Interpol has rejected Pakistan’s request to issue a red warrants for the arrest and extradition of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz.

According to Interpol, the red warrants cannot be issued because of insufficient evidence. The request had been submitted to Interpol’s headquarters in France.

Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, Captain Safdar were also mentioned in the appeal document.

A five member bench of Interpol reviewed the matter through 10 sessions. However, the Pakistani government failed to prove allegations against Hussain Nawaz.

The Interpol stated, in its 10-pages verdict, that the documents for issuing red warrants of Hussain Nawaz were not reasonable and the Pakistan government did not provide trustable proofs against the son of Nawaz Sharif.

Around eight months ago, the FIA had contacted Interpol in France to bring back Nawaz Sharif’s sons, Hassan and Hussain, to Pakistan. The agency wrote a letter to Interpol after receiving the go ahead from the Interior Ministry.

Hassan and Hussain are wanted in the Avenfield and other references. The interior ministry had earlier given the FIA permission to issue red warrants for the brothers’ arrest. The FIA had been given written instructions to contact Interpol to bring Hassan and Hussain back to Pakistan.


They had been declared proclaimed offenders and warrants had been issued for their arrest. NAB Chairperson Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal had also given the green light to contact Interpol to bring the brothers back to Pakistan.

Hassan, Hussain Nawaz placed on blacklist

August 8, 2018, the names of Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s sons, were placed on the blacklist.

After including in the black list, the passports of Hassan and Hussain Nawaz were also blocked. Now the former premier son’s will not be able to travel on their Pakistani passports. The decision was taken on the request of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

NAB had been submitted to the Immigration and Passport Directorate, following which Hassan and Hussain’s passports were blocked and their names placed on the blacklist. FIA requests Interpol HQ to issue red warrants against Hassan, Hussain Nawaz.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had contacted the headquarters of Interpol to request the issuance of red warrants for the arrest of Hassan and Hussain Nawaz.
