ISLAMABAD (92 News) – A key development was witnessed in the Imran Farooq murder case when the British witness presented the CCTV video of the crime scene, map and the weapon of murder in the anti-terrorism court on Monday.

Moreover, the record of the accused’s entry to London Academy of Management Sciences and banks accounts was also presented in court.

ATC Judge Jawad Abbas heard the case. The court is recording the statements of three British witnesses. The witnesses include the London police chief, a sergeant and a constable.

On October 11, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had submitted evidence – received from the UK regarding the murder case of former MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq – in Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).

During the hearing, the FIA prosecutor informed the court that 23 witnesses will record their statements in the case. “Three witnesses will appear before the court in person, while 20 others will record their testimony on video-link,” he added.

The court ordered that three officers of Metropolitan Police London should record their statements on November 06 and adjourned hearing of the case for the date.

Earlier, the UK Central Authority handed over the evidence of Dr Imran Farooq murder case to Pakistani authorities.

Toby Cadman, who is assisting Islamabad in the case with the Home Office and Scotland Yard, has handed over the evidence to the investigation agencies, which will be produced in court on the next date. He said that Pakistan had made a request for mutual legal assistance (MLA) to transfer evidence relevant to the inquiry regarding the Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader’s murder.

Cadman said he is currently in Pakistan to deliver the letter of acceptance, the evidence and to attend a hearing of the case.

Sources said that Pakistani authorities had assured the United Kingdom not to award the accused capital punishment. They said the real accused could not be arrested so far even after nine years. It is being expected that red warrants of the culprits would be issued after the evidence.
