ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Panama Papers JIT chief Wajid Zia stated on Thursday that no witness had told the JIT till June 25 that the trust deed presented by Maryam Nawaz was fake.

He said that the trust deed bore Maryam’s signature, while Capt Safdar had signed it as a witness.

Zia said until June 25, 2017, nobody had informed the JIT that Maryam was the beneficial owner of the London properties. He added that no witness had said till the date that the trust deed was a fake.

He said the date under the signature was February 2, 2006.

Zia said the JIT had not directly approached UK-based lawyer Jeremy Freeman. He said Quist Solicitors, a UK-based law firm hired by the JIT, had approached Freemean.

Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the National Accountability Bureau reference against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family. Sharif, his daughter Maryam and son-in-law Capt Safdar (retired) attended the proceedings.

The case has been adjourned until Friday.
