Junoobi Punjab Mahaaz to merge with PTI tomorrow: sources
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Defected lawmakers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) from South Punjab have decided to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the Junoobi Punjab Suba Mahaaz will be merged with the PTI and formal announcement in this regard will be made on Wednesday after MNA Khusro Bakhtiar meets PTI chairperson Imran Khan.
Consultation between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Junoobi Punjab Suba Mahaaz has been succeeded and following this, the defected lawmakers have decided to join the PTI.
PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhary has confirmed the news and said that consultation between the PTI and Junoobi Punjab Suba Mahaaz have been completed. According to sources, 20 personalities, including more than 15 national and provincial assembly lawmakers, will join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
After their merger, lawmakers will contest upcoming elections on PTI ticket instead being independent candidates. Earlier, the lawmakers from South Punjab parted ways with the ruling party and announced the launch of a mass movement – Junoobi Punjab Suba Mahaaz – to make southern Punjab a separate province.
According to sources, PTI vice-chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, senior leader Jahangir Tareen, Ishaq Khakwani and Fawad Chaudhary have a key role in consultation.
