KARACHI (92 News) – Former Chief Justice Justice (r) Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui took oath as Sindh Governor in Karachi on Friday (today).

The oath was administered by Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Syed Sajjad Ali Shah.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani, Sindh Ministers, Member National Assembly (MNAs), Member Provincial Assembly (MPAs), judges, members of lawyer community and high civil and military officials also attended the oath-taking ceremony.

Previously, the government last week decided to remove Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ibad from his position after almost 14 years to hold the office.

Former chief justice Justice (r) Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui shot to fame when he defied the request given by Pervez Musharraf via the Law Minister and Legal Adviser Sharifuddin Pirzada to take a new oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO).

He was the candidate for president by PML-N during the 2008 presidential elections against PPPP’s Asif Ali Zardari. However, he lost the presidential election by 159 votes to Asif Ali Zardari, who was elected President of Pakistan.
