Karachi: Nurses’ protest enters third day
KARACHI (92 News) – The provincial nursing association and young association of the government hospitals of the entire province continued to protest over non-provision of allowance on the third consecutive day.
The Joint Action Committee announced to continue protest after the dialogues with the high-ups failed.
The agitating protesters said that the protest will continue till the demands are met and threatened to protest outside Sindh Chief Minister House.
Earlier, the nursing association said that their demands, including promotion and issuance of health allowance, were not fulfilled despite protest. They said that now they would take written guarantee from the government.
The protesting nurses had threatened to boycott all the government hospital departments. Joint Action Committee (JAC) had said that the sit-in could be turned into a hunger strike.
Health Additional Secretary Aslam Pechuho had said that no such demands have been made before. The nursing association would be responsible for any loss of the patients, he said.
