KARACHI (92 News) – COAS Raheel Sharif has said that the Karachi operation is apolitical and it will remain apolitical.

Addressing a meeting presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday, the COAS stressed the need for enhancing cooperation between the federal and provincial governments.

“The Karachi operation is not against any political party, but it is against terrorists and their financers. The Army, Rangers intelligence and law-enforcement agencies have rendered sacrifices for the establishment of peace in the city,” he maintained.

Earlier, the COAS visited Corps Headquarters Karachi where DG ISI Lt-Gen Rizwan Akhtar, DG Rangers Sindh Maj-Gen Bilal Akbar and Corps Commander Karachi Lt-Gen Naveed Mukhtar briefed him about law and order in the city.

The COAS lauded the role of Army, Rangers, intelligence and other law-enforcement agencies for peace in Karachi. “The peaceful local bodies elections were made possible due to improvement in law and order in Karachi,” he said.
