Karachiites reject MQM’s call to observe day of mourning, eight nabbed for threatening citizens
KARACHI (92 News) – The Karachiites on Saturday rejected Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s call to observe day of mourning against party workers’ extra-judicial killing.
The MQM had called to observe a day of mourning today against alleged ‘extrajudicial’ killings of workers amid ongoing operation in Karachi against criminals and militants.
However, the transport is flowing smoothly, markets are open and life is moving on as usual in the city on Saturday.
On the other hand, the police was on high alert in the city, while the Sindh Rangers is also patrolling areas to deal with any untoward incident.
The law-enforcement agencies made it clear that they won’t let anyone derail the peace of the city, adding that action would be taken against those trying to shut the businesses.
Meanwhile, Sindh Rangers have detained at least eight workers of MQM, trying to close the shops and markets forcefully from areas.
The spokesman for Sindh Rangers said that the miscreants were apprehended from Jubilee, Liaqatabad, Kareemabad and Orangi Sector.
The spokesman said that the suspects were threatening the citizens and businessmen of dire consequences.
He said that the suspects will produced in the Anti-Terrorism Court soon.
