Kartarpur's construction contrary to PAPRA rules becomes challenge for govt

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The construction of Kartarpur Corridor project, which is contrary to the PPRA rules, has become a major challenge for the federal government.

Due to denial of the law minister, the federal cabinet refused to give a waiver to the Kartarpur corridor project.

On the directive of Prime Minister Imran, the Kartarpur corridor project was constructed without issuing tender as per PPRA rules. The project cost more than Rs10 billion. Due to the construction of the project, the PPRA has already rejected the recommendation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Bypassing the PPRA rules could have serious consequences for cabinet members.

The Finance Division has so far withheld funds due to a dispute over the PPRA rules. The PPRA board members will be persuaded to save the government from legal troubles and NAB proceedings. The federal cabinet again directed to send the matter to the PPRA board.
