Kashmir incident is as serious as East Pakistan tragedy: Zardari
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Former president Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday said – in his opinion – the Kashmir incident was as serious as the East Pakistan tragedy.
Addressing the joint session of the parliament over recent developments in Indian Occupied Kashmir lauded the valor and sacrifices made by the Kashmiri’s in their righteous struggle for freedom.
He said that it was important to look at history to understand this, adding that PPP had been formed for the cause and sacrifices of Kashmir.
The former president that he felt immense pride when Kashmiri’s buried their loved ones in Pakistani flags, those who sacrificed their lives for the just struggle for freedom of Kashmir from the clutches of India.
“Kashmiri’s are fearless and their love for Pakistan knows no bound, they take pride in being a part of Pakistan and that is their ultimate wish, to be a part of this country, said Zardari.
Asif Ali Zardari said after the illegal annexation of Kashmir by India, we need to accelerate the diplomatic efforts. He said today pro-government Muslims of India have also realized that two-nation theory was right that granted a separate homeland to Muslims.
Asif Ali Zardari said the step taken by India to strip Kashmir of its independent status has buried the secular status of the country. He predicted that separatist movements all across India will gain momentum with this step.
The former president said that if this had happened on his watch, his first flight would have been to Abu Dhabi followed by a flight to China, Russia and Iran, where he would ask the leaders to show solidarity with Pakistan.
“I am hopeful that Modi’s thought process will itself lead to the disintegration of India as he has buried the secular India that Nehru and Gandhi had envisioned.”
Earlier, the Indian government rushed through a presidential decree to scrap a special status for Indian-held Jammu Kashmir, hours after imposing a major security clampdown in the region.
Amit Shah has announced to abrogate Articles 370 and 35A from its constitution, which gives special status and rights to the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The announcement was made by Indian Home Minister Amit Shah while addressing in Rajya Sabha, upper house of Indian parliament. Amit Shah also announced that Jammu and Kashmir would be re-organized geographically.
