Khawaja Izhar Atatck: Sindh IG says incident was attempt to incite feud

KARACHI (92 News) – Sindh Inspector General Allah Dino Khawaja has on Sunday said that the assailants tried to push the country’s economic hub in fire with the attack on Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan in police uniform.

Talking to media in Karachi on Sunday, he said that the enemies wanted destabilize the law and order situation and spread anarchy in the city with the attack.

The Sindh IG said that the issue is very sensitive and we must avoid speculations because the enemy can take advantage.

AD Khawaja went on to say that the assailant has been identified as Ahsan, an engineer by profession and resident of Sohrab Goth area, adding that the area residents tortured an attacker who was injured in gun battle with the police.

He said that the weapons of the attackers have been sent for forensic and law enforcement agencies including Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Rangers are carrying out investigation into the incident.


Earlier, Khawaja Izharul Hasan of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-Pakistan) escaped unharmed in the September 2 attack.

The attack left a policeman and a passer-by dead while four others including a guard sustained injuries in the attack on central leader of MQM-P. The attackers came in police uniforms so they were able to pass through various check points unhindered.
