Kisan Package: Both announcement and release of funds a violation of code of conduct, says CEC
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan has on Wednesday said that the release of funds under Prime Minister’s Kisan Package after election schedule is a violation of code of conduct of elections.
A five-member commission, headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (r) Sardar Raza Khan resumed hearing into Prime Minister Kisan Package case.
Secretary National Food Security, Secretary Information and Additional Attorney General appeared before the commission.
On the occasion, Additional Attorney General Muhammad Riaz said argued that Kisan Package was a part of the budget and the election schedule had not been announced when this package was added as a part of budget.
The CEC remarked that both the announcement of the package and release of funds after the release of election schedule are a violation of code of conduct.
The Election Commission ordered the Secretary Finance to appear before the commission in the next hearing and adjourned the hearing till November 17.
