Lahore super store association refuses to sell food items on pricelist of govt
LAHORE (92 News) – The super stores association in Lahore refused to sell essential food items on the pricelist issued by the government on Tuesday.
According to the reports, after the owners of ‘Atta Chaki’, the supermarket owners gave warning to go on strike. They said that the prices of essential food items such as lentils, rice, flour, ghee, and sugar have been increased 50 to 100 rupees.
The owners refused to sell the food items on DC rate pricelist given by the government. They also mentioned that essential food items such as lentils, rice, flour, ghee, and sugar will not be available at these marts for the time being.
“We can’t buy these essential items at high prices and then sell them at low prices,” said one of the mart owners. “This will result in losses for us,” he added.
Supermarket owners of the Superstore Grocery Association have said that they will only reduce their prices if the government provides them these essentials at subsidised prices.
According to them, the strike will last till the government takes back its notification on the pricelist.
