LHC orders young doctors to end strike immediately
LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the doctors to end their strike immediately.
Hearing a petition filed by the Young Doctors Association, Justice Jawad Hassan remarked that the strike is unjustified until the legislation is finalized.
He ordered the Health Secretary to prepare the draft in consultation with the stakeholders. “The committee should hold a two-day workshop and listen to all stakeholders. A copy of the draft should be given to all stakeholders. The court has already ruled that professionals cannot observe the strike,” he said.
He warned that the striking doctors would be sent to jail in contempt of court, ordering them to treat patients in hospitals.
He ordered the committee to submit the manuscript of the final draft to court on November 23. Later, the hearing was adjourned till December 2.
Meanwhile, the Young Doctors Association office-bearers assured to end the strike.
