LHC stops PAT from staging women sit-in on the Mall Road
LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court has stopped the Pakistan Awami Tehreek to stage the women sit-in on the Mall Road on Tuesday.
Justice Mamoonur Rashid remarked that there is a ban on holding rallies and meetings on the Mall Road. He said that the court verdict should be respected.
The court directed the PAT counsel to appear before it with directions about the sit-in from the leadership.
The Punjab Advocate General told court that the PAT had not submitted an application in this regard. The PAT counsel said that the sit-in venue had been changed.
A spokesman for the PAT said that the party leadership will go to court tomorrow. “The verdict has not been announced yet. We will respect the law,” he said.
PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri had announced to stage a women sit-in in connection with the Tehreek-e-Qisas on August 16.
