LHC summons evidences, videos of Model Town tragedy
LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC), while hearing plea against non-convening of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and 10 others, on Monday summoned evidences and videos of the Model Town tragedy.
The prosecution stated that 12 people, including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo Nawaz Sharif and party president Shahbaz Sharif, were not summoned in the case. The court summoned former Police Inspector General Mushtaq Sukhera on next hearing.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek counsel took stance that they were not provided with complete report of Justice Ali Baqir Najfi on the incident. The prosecutor general said that the prosecution has filed petition for attached statements with report and videos.
The court directed the prosecutor general to submit report in sealed envelope before court. The PAT counsel requested the court to adjourn hearing but the court remarked that Supreme Court has ordered to conduct hearing on daily-basis. The court said that if the method is delayed in such way, when the case will be decided.
Applicant’s counsel said Yazeed is unanimously considered the responsible for the Karbala incident. The court remarked that history provides evidence that Yazeed had issued orders for massacre. The counsel said I want to say the same that these 12 persons issued orders of violence in Model Town violence.
