Local bodies elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa underway

PESHAWAR (92 News) – Polling for the local bodies elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa started at 8am on Saturday.

The electoral material was sent to polling stations, while presiding officers have been granted the power of magistrates.

At some places, watchman and sweeper, Class IV employees, have been made the polling officers.

Polling will start at 8am and continue till 5pm without any break.

The elections at Village and Neighbourhood Councils will be held on non-party basis whereas on party basis at Tehsil and District Council level.


As many as 84,420 candidates are in the field for 41,762 seats.

11,211 polling stations have been set up where over 13 million registered voters to elect their representatives.

Foolproof security arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful atmosphere on the polling day.
