ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood has said on Thursday that Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad will have positive impact on Pakistan’s economy as trade and investment with the Far East will increase.

Addressing press briefing, the prime minister’s adviser said the visit of Mahathir will open a window of opportunities to our economy. He said this visit will prove the beginning of the Look East approve of the present government.

Pak-Malaysia to sign joint venture of millions of dollars

Razak Dawood has said that Pakistan and Malaysia will sign joint ventures worth millions of Dollars in telecommunication, technology, automobiles and halal food sectors.

The adviser said three MoUs will be signed during the visit while an investment of eight to nine hundred million dollar is expected between the two countries in the fields of IT, Telecom, Power Generation, Textile, Agriculture and Halal Food industries.

He said Pakistan greatly values transfer of technology and knowledge sharing partnership with Malaysia to increase its productivity, develop human resource and technology base and to open a gateway to the East Asian economies.

Razak Dawood said both the countries will begin a transformational relationship on long-term base.

Signing ceremony of MoUs to be held tomorrow

He said a signing ceremony of MoUs will be held in Islamabad tomorrow which will be attended by Prime Ministers of both countries. He said the event will also attended by top business leaders and policymakers of both countries.

Abdul Razak Dawood said Malaysia is providing an opportunity to Pakistan to open up the ASEAN market for trade and investment through strategic partnerships.

The Malaysian prime minister’s visit from March 21-23 is at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan. He will be the Guest of Honour at the Pakistan Day Parade on March 23.

He will be accompanied by a 35-member high-level delegation including several leading businessmen.  He is paying the visit on the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Prime Minister Mahathir’s bilateral engagements also include call on President Arif Alvi, one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan followed by the delegation level talks.

The two prime ministers will also speak at the round table meeting of the CEOs of Industries, who desire to invest in automobile and telecommunication sectors of Pakistan. During his stay, several MoUs will be signed between both countries.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Faisal, in a statement, said that the visit of Malaysian prime minister will further cement the existing brotherly and friendly relations between the two countries.
