OTTAWA, Canada (92 News) – Education rights activist Malala Yousafzai has thanked Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for getting honorary Canadian citizenship.
In an address to the Canadian Parliament on Wednesday, she said that she as a Pakistani and a Pakhtun accepts the Canadian citizenship with pride.
Malala asked Canada to play a leadership role in promoting education for girls and refugees around the world. “If Canada leads, the world will follow,” she said.
Earlier, she accepted a certificate and Canadian flag from the Peace Tower from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau before making her address.
Yousafzai made history as the youngest person ever to address Canadian Parliament.
